8.30am – outside the tube entrance. There is Olympics in the air today, I said to myself, as I sniffed it… smelling like tail gas. “Beijing Morning Paper! Beijing Morning Paper, special Olympic edition!…” so one of our national slogans for the Olympics is quite true then: Quan Min Ao Yun = All People’s Olympics.
“How much is it please?”
“5 Jiao (=3p)! Beijing Morning Paper! Special Olympics Edition~!!” he shouted to the crowd..
He smiled as he took the money, leaving the high stack of papers aside to count the change.. “It is really not easy to sell a copy of this..”he said, but still smiling, under the especially sunny morning day which welcomes the one year Olympics countdown.
